Songs from "The Bonecleaner",
Book One of Consuelo Luz Aróstegui's Trilogy CANTO
K'ay Chel teaches Kamey to chant the Maya Day Guardians and Numbers in what she calls The Mathematical Counting of Love. Kamey adds Hebrew chants to the prayer.
K'ay Chel finds a a magical Ceiba tree where she fulfills the Sacrifice of the Flowers ritual that came to her in a dream to summon her love Sebastián. A wordless song emerges through her.
Kamey hears a song on the radio based on the Gabriela Mistral poem "Extasis" which she has read in her poetry book. The rhythmical radio version inspires her to dance and then go look for some ripe mangos to take to her mentor Father Cozca.
Tied to a tree by the guerrilla band she has joined who still don't trust her, Kamey's anger gets soothed when she hears some guitar strings being played which inspire her to hum and sing in the healing wordless way K'ay Chel taught her which enables her to fall asleep.
